It's Hunting, No, Shopping Season!

This has to be Canton's biggest weekend of the year. The men go hunting and the women go shopping! Since I am going duck hunting with Todd Friday and Saturday, I took off to get my fall dose of Canton. Stacy took off work and went with me.

For a Thursday, there was a good sized crowd. I was a little worried earlier this morning, but by ten, most all the booths were open.
Stacy shows off our goodies! It may not look like a whole lot, but candles, soup mixes, perfume, tulle, ribbon, and crosses don't take up that much room! There are lots of cabinet doors under that loot too!

Here's most of my stuff. The crosses will be gifts for Christmas. I bought a set of $20 sheets that are everywhere in Canton. Stacy said she bought some, and they are really soft. The Christmas signs were so reasonably priced, I bought two. One was $12 and the other $10.50. The little snowman sign was $2.95! Those candles smell so good and were only $5 each. I am going to put the big star above my fireplace at Christmas. It was a whopping $14.95!

I am excited about my McCain/Palin t-shirt. I just hate that I didn't have it sooner. I hope everyone is praying about our country and it's future leaders. Make sure and VOTE!

BUNCO NIGHT!

Come on in! The girls caught me taking a little smoke break before the guests arrived! Too bad Todd was out of town. I was in my element!

Ashley took the night off from her Vegas show to help me entertain for the evening. Lindsey just jumped ship from the Carribean! She had to fight the pirates off to come visit her old mama! I am so proud of these girls. I raised them right, I tell ya!

Betty Crocker came a little late. Do you know how long it took me to get all this food ready? Where is this lady when you need her? (No, Cherie, really you were adorable!)

I don't know who let this dog in my house. Everybody knows that I don't like any Lil' Bow Bows or Snoop Dogs in my house! Word Up! (Stephanie, you were "off the chain")

Yes, these are all my family members! Sisters in Christ, that is! We had a crazy, great time playing Bunco tonight. I can't wait until next month. Pajama party!!!!!

Paint Party Update

The next Paint Party is fast approaching. It is Friday, Nov. 7th. We will be painting the fall sign that we did on the 10th of October. So far, I have Hillary, Kinsey, Sara, and April coming to that one. If you want to come, let me know as soon as you can so I can get the materials ready.

The Christmas Paint Party will be Friday, Nov. 14th. We will paint the back side of the fall painting! This class will be only $10 since we have the boards already. If you do not have the board, it will be $15. Those that have signed up are Jill, Lacy, her mom, Deanna, April, Hillary, Kinsey, Cherie, and Alice. I have room for 3 more, so sign up ASAP! We will do the same as last time and bring a snack to share! If there are more interested in the class, I may do another on Friday, the 21st. Stay posted to see what we are going to paint!

More Pumpkins

This year Mrs. Baker's pumpkin is Cinderella's carriage.
Mrs. Buffaloe's class has a bat made from their pumpkin. Isn't he cute?
Mrs. Williams' pumpkin is all wrapped up. I think we should title it, "I want my MUMMY!"

Sherry and Hillary will have a booth this weekend for the Mushroom Festival. Their business name is Hope & Co. Here's their sign! Come out this weekend if you can. Lots of goodies!

HOWDY, the Aggie Scarecrow

Each year the elementary school paints pumpkins to put on display at one of our local banks the week before Halloween. This is our class pumpkin. Stay tuned for more of second grade's pumpkins!

Brian and Sharon's Reception

Todd's brother, Brian, and Sharon were married on the beach in Playa Del Carmen in May. Last night we celebrated with friends and family.

Their first dance.
Todd, Mark, and Patricia stop visiting for a moment for me to snap a picture!

Brian, Missy(sis-in-law), and Michelle(niece) are STAYIN'ALIVE! Patricia's good friends, Gerald and Sandra Langham get in on the fun too! Sharon, dancing with her father, and Brian with Patricia.

Michelle was having a great time on the dance floor.

No School! I get to Paint!

Courtney asked me to do this sign for her to display with her jewelry at her next show. She wanted it gaudy, but for me, that is as gaudy as it gets! (unless I see a picture)
Karen asked me to paint a sign for her booth for Fair on the Square coming up in a couple of weeks. I decided to paint the backside with chalkboard paint, so that she can put messages like,"Thanks for shopping!", "Look for our specials", etc."

Now that I have my new camera, the ornaments I painted look a lot better. I have several of these and I am going to put them in clear plastic treat bags and tie with a ribbon. That way it will be an instant gift! I am going to sell them for $10 each. These are the bigger sized ornaments.

Oh What a NiGhT!

Okay, I have to start this post off with a BIG THANK YOU to my wonderful husband who puts up with all my craftiness AND for taking these two precious guys to the football game, so Denise could come and paint with us! I know he had a great time with them.
I can't tell you how much fun I had, and these ladies can paint, I tell you! Once we got started, they went to town!
We kidded Carrie about wearing a white shirt, but she came away paint free! We only had a couple of accidents with Julie and Susie, but the Spray n Wash was on stand by!

This was the group who wanted to pull the all-nighter! Next party they are bringing their pajamas, and we are watching Wedding Date just for Jill! So glad you could come, Kyley!
This was the Busy Bee group, along with Denise, who finished first! It's amazing that we all started with the same patterns, boards, and paint colors, but each painting turned out different! I overheard Deanna say, "I can't believe I did this!" Who was that big diet and exercise guru who always said, "YOU CAN DO IT!"? (That's who I felt like! ) This was the first picture of the A group. Can you tell what is wrong with this pic?
Denise did a Fabulous job on her painting. I love the shading she did on her pumpkin. I can't wait for the next party. Thanks Jana, Susie, Cindy, Deanna, Carrie, Denise, Lacy, Julie, Jill, and Kyley for coming, and I am already brainstorming and web searching ideas for the Christmas one. Mark your calender: November 14th!

Ready to PAR-TAY!

The tables are all set for the painting tomorrow! Those of you that are coming, be ready to have some fun. If you can't make this one, we are planning another fall party on the 7th of November. The following Friday night, we will have a Christmas Paint Party. (details to come!) If you are interested in either of these, let me know!
Here ya go, Carrie! I took this from one of the panels on the quilt from the Countyside bedding. Hope you like it!

Supper Time!

I got out my Gooseberry Patch Fall Cookbook the other day looking for some new recipes to try. This is the Chill Chasin' Chilli. It has about 10 different kinds of beans in it, and it is very hearty. It made a huge pot, so we will be eating on this for awhile. Poor Todd!
My mom used to make this Mexican cornbread and Todd really likes it. It is just 2 packages of Mexican cornbread mixes with cream corn, browned ground meat and grated cheddar cheese added to it. I added a few extra peppers for an added kick. The house smelled so good. I am ready for cool weather so I can make more meals like this.
This is one of 3 necklace holders I made last week. I took a picture of all 3 with my camera, but it did not turn out. That camera could not take good close pics, so Todd gave me new one for my birthday. Now I can take close up shots of my paintings! This holder is Lacy's.

Salado Treasures

I am excited about the items I bought in Salado. I am going to make an arrangement with the 2 pumpkins, and the small looking guords are salt and pepper shakers for $2.99! The stars have a votive candle holder in the back, and the beads are one of 2 garlands I purchased to put on my light above the dining room table for Christmas. These bead garlands were EVERYWHERE! They used them in pretty jars, on candles, Christmas trees, on wreaths, you name it! Lots of ideas!
This candle smells so good and will work for Christmas too.
This is my favorite purchase. Look what it can do! It will be great to serve snacks on, use to put fall leaves and nuts on, or the sales lady suggested soaps and handtowels in a guest bathroom!

Weekend in Salado

Bubba, Cindy, and I had a great time shopping in Salado this weekend. The guys were in Uvalde dove hunting and Marvin had a class reunion, so we decided to do a little hunting of our own!
A Bicycle Built for Two!

We stayed at the Old Salado Springs Retreat. This is the Lindsey Cottage. Jenna Bush had her rehearsal dinner on these grounds! George and Barbara stayed in the Lindsey Cottage! Isn't that cool?
George and Barbara slept here and so did Bubba and I! Bubba wanted to know which side George slept on! I told her he may have been all over that bed with Barbara!!!
This is where Cindy slept! Did you know that Cindy was very flexible? No, actually, she chose to sleep here. This contraption is the neatest thing!

Cindy wading in the spring fed Salado creek!
