Second Grade Field Day

Second grade teachers enjoyed socializing and sunning!

The kids had 3 blow up toys, shaving, fingernail and face painting, croquet, roping, yard darts, limbo, and hayrides. We had hot dogs for lunch. Even the boys, including Kasey and Sam, got their nails done! Hope dads don't see this blog!

It's a Luau at the Elementary!

The Easterlings are treating our staff to a Hawaiian Luau today including a roasted pig! We are truly blessed with great parents on our campus. Our PTO served us several lunches as well this year.

Take me out to the ball game!

Am I blessed or what? Just look at those BLUE eyes!
After Sunday School we went to see the Astros play the Phillies. It was a good game-at first. Then the Phillies scored like five or six runs in one inning and won the game. Despite the loss, we had a good time.

Our Star Chapter Farmer

Lindsey won the Star Chapter Farmer buckle this year as a sophomore! She worked really hard in her speaking contests and showing her steer this year. I am a sorry mom for not bringing my camera to the banquet tonight. She was a good sport about it and let me take her picture here at home. I'll post her "official" picture when it comes out in the newspaper! Congratulations, Lindsey!

Light at the end of the tunnel!

For all you teachers out there, this says it all!

Rodeo Shirt

I just finished Shelby's rodeo queen shirt. Okay, just imagine it with crystals and sparklies on the shirt. Hopefully, I will get a pic of Shelby in the finished product!

Go Cougar Baseball!

Todd and I traveled to Lufkin to see our alma mater play in the regional quarter finals in baseball yesterday. It was a good game and the Cougars won the series in 2 games. They will play New Boston (near Texarkana) next week.

Imagine about 75 of these water bottles filled with blue and white beads shaking constantly during the Buna-Central Heights baseball playoff game (oh, and one cow bell ringing)! It makes me appreciate my second grade class while they are talking! Cougar fans had lots of spirit. The opposing team was having a hard time concentrating.

Kevin Brewster's son, Kolton is at bat. We hope to see them play next weekend. Go Big Blue!

Latest Project

Before...........................
Denise brought this trunk over for me to paint a few weeks ago. She uses it as a coffee table, and wanted a checkerboard on top. The ovals painted on the top are painted with chalkboard paint so it can be written on to keep scores. I am excited about the way it turned out.

After.................................

Lovin' Spoons

When your kids are driving you crazy
And you think you are about to lose your mind,
Just take out the Lovin' Spoon
And use it on their behind!

I'm not the only Guitar Hero!

Spring Garden

Daddy has big plans for the land they purchased last year. Uncle Wendy and Son brought out the horses and plow to get the ground ready. No tractor needed here. Caleb helped Daddy plant potatoes, and I brought a trunk load home this weekend. I told Daddy, with all he has planted, he should open a farmer's market. He has okra, potatoes, corn, tomatoes, watermelon, squash, and I am sure I am forgetting something. The bottom picture is the garden and what it looks like now.

20 Years of Being a Mom...Happy Mother's Day

Ashley and Lindsey

Mom and Baby Lindsey

Mom and Baby Ashley

College, school, work, and the social life have been hectic for us, and we don't slow down near enough to tell our mom how much we love her and how much she means to us! Boy I never realized how much work it is to manage one person yet she managed to handle all 3 of us!! The phrases "I've been working all day and I just want to sit down" or "I just vacuumed this floor!" mean so much more to me now!!! It's true at times I feel like I am turning into my mother, but that isn't bad at all!! Mom we are very lucky that God has blessed you in our lives! We love you so much

Sorry the pictures are so blurry...it was the best I could do!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

I am blessed to have a great mom and friend to talk to. Love ya, Mama! Consider this your card!

I've got some goofy girls, but I know they love me! Looking forward to our trip to Fredericksburg. Get your shopping and hiking shoes ready, and we will relax in the evening in the hot tub!

Metamorphosis!

One of our butterflies has hatched! Okay, I have to tell this story. Mrs. King's class took out their butterfly yesterday to release it. Well, as the kids were watching the butterfly flit and flutter in the air, a bird swoops down and snatches the butterfly in mid air. The students were mortified! Mrs. King, without missing a beat, takes the opportunity to teach the kids about how the food chain works! Thankfully, we did not have a tragic release with our butterfly.

I think I have painted everything now!

Guess what? No zebra print for Amanda! She wanted these Dr. Scholl's painted leopard and I finally finished them today. I found a cool website: ttaylordesigns.com with lots of different patterns painted on these kind of shoes. There were no leopard ones, though. Can't wait to see them on you, Amanda.
