NOT!

Okay I do NOT, I repeat, do NOT feel like a 41 year old today. I used to look forward to birthdays, and I love this time of year with cool weather, football, and falling leaves. But for the past 2 years I have NOT looked forward to them. One thing, now that I am in my forties, I have to have yearly mammograms. NOT Fun! A couple of weeks ago I had them picked up, pulled out, and pressed like grapes in a winepress! Oh, it brought tears to my eyes. After all that torture, I was given a beautiful pink rose. As if that was going to make me feel better! Well, I am going to try to defy my age! I have signed up for Weight Watchers, and I am continuing my exercise routine of 3 miles three to four times a week. It has been almost 2 weeks with W.W. and I feel pretty good (lost 2.5 lbs). So, you young ladies out there "beware"! Those forties are coming, but you can fight it the best you can by taking care of yourself. Get those mammograms, exercise, eat healthy, and pray for a long life!

Brushes for paint night

NO FOAM!!!!

Okay, some have asked, "What kind of brushes do we need to bring?" I like to use the flat brushes like the ones pictured above. A liner brush will be good to outline and write with as well. There is a package of brushes you can buy at Walmart. Also, alot of times Hobby Lobby has an online coupon for 40% off, and you can use that to buy your brushes. I buy ones that are not expensive, because I go through so many. Hope this helps!

Party Piece

Just finished the painting that we will be creating on the 10th! Of course, everyone will be able to personalize it the way they want to, so everyone's will be different. When I finished it, I realized that the back side can be painted a Christmas theme! I just may do that for the next party! (Carrie, there is room for you!)

Bottle cap necklaces

Just finished making 6 of these necklaces just in time for Homecoming this week! My camera is not that great, but the colors are much brighter. I'm going to sell them for $5 each. They would be so cute on a little cheerleader or a big one! Let me know if you want one! Also, Courtney, who does my hair, is coming to the Elementary library from 1-4 pm on Monday to sell some of her handmade jewelry. She uses the chunky stones and makes necklaces that look like huge charm bracelets. Come by if you can. Christmas is less than 100 days away!

Thanks who came and shopped and supported Courtney! I have these necklaces in the workroom for a whopping 5 bucks if you want one. (these were kind of tidious, so I won't be doing more!!!)

Happy 17th Birthday, Lindsey!

Baby Lindsey with big sis, Ashley
17 years ago at 5:45 a.m. I gave birth to my second daughter, Lindsey Kay. Gomer Pyle was on the TV in the birthing room, and I was frantic because Todd was not in the room with me yet. (He was waiting on his dad to get Ashley) I was afraid he would not make it to the room before Lindsey came into the world. Todd showed up just in time for me to give him a death grip when it was time to push! Time has flown by and now she is less than a year away from being a senior in high school. Although we may have our ups and downs ( as most moms and teenage daughters!) I love ya, Lindsey! Have a great day!

10 things I love about my home

Well, since I am a Tip Junkie addict, I decided to participate in her 10 favorite things about my home. First off, I love the front of my house. My husband built the steps including laying the brick. My kitchen is a favorite place especially during the holidays. Having a double oven helps alot!
My dining room furniture is the newest addition to our house.
Our gas fire place is great on cold winter days. Only problem is there aren't that many in Texas!
This is my new area of my house. I finally finished my table that I bought at Canton. This table will expand to a full size table. Here, I can sit and work on the computer in the living room.

I just love it when Lindsey cleans her room! You mothers with teenage daughters will know what I am talking about!
My great grandmother, Aggie crocheted our name several years ago. This was the first piece that I had professionally framed.
This print was given to me by my mother-in-law. It is a picture of the old Pig Stand in Beaumont. The records are of Elvis and yes, that bottom one is blue.
This is where I like to soak in the tub after a long day at school. I was happy Todd let me get a whirlpool tub when we were building the house.
This is the beginning of my cross wall. Each of these crosses has a story behind it. Lindsey has given me a couple, and Ashley brought the blue one to me from Guatemala.

Weathering the storm

Before the lights went out, the kids got paint by number sets to have something to do. Well, it didn't take them long to finish. If you look in the bottom left of the top pic, guess who is making another garland? You guessed it! Stacy!
Todd and Ashley surf the web Friday night.
Our electricity went off early Saturday morning. Thank goodness we have a generator and the weather has been really great. Mama and Daddy take a little nap before they head home on Sunday morning. They have no electricity either, but got a generator to hook up to their freezers.
Lindsey has been working on her bedroom redo. She has a giraffe theme. I'll post pics when it is all done. With all this time we have had, I have painted quite a bit. Check out my art blog to see what I have been doing lately!
